The murals inside the Ordination Hall of Wat Arun are masterpieces of art created during the reign of King Rama III and meticulously restored in later periods. The main themes depict the Life of the Buddha and the Ten Jataka tales, notably the vivid scene of the "Victory over Mara" painted grandly on the wall facing the principal image. These paintings are distinguished by their soft yet majestic color palettes and the intricate details of daily life, architecture, and traditional attire from the early Rattanakosin era woven into the scenes. Additionally, the depiction of the Buddha descending from the Tavatimsa Heaven is regarded as one of the most beautifully composed scenes, reflecting deep Buddhist devotion.
