Buddha Images around the Ordination Hall

The cloister (Phra Rabiang) surrounding the Ordination Hall of Wat Arun houses 120 Buddha images in the subduing Mara posture, arranged in a meticulously orderly fashion. Most of these images are cast in metal, lacquered, and covered with gold leaf, reflecting the devotion and prosperity of Buddhism during the early Rattanakosin period. A walk along the cloister provides a sense of serenity and is a popular photography spot, capturing the striking row of golden statues against the temple’s architecture. These Buddha images act as a symbolic wall of faith, encircling the Ordination Hall—the most sacred site for performing religious rites and ceremonies.
