Gilded Copper Casting

The technique of Gilded Copper Casting is a traditional method widely used in Thai fine arts, employing copper as the primary material for its ability to capture sharp details and ensure durability. Once the casting is complete, the surface is polished and coated with "Rak" (natural lacquer), which acts as an adhesive before thin sheets of genuine gold leaf are meticulously applied one by one. For Phra Phuttha Champhunut, this technique not only grants the image a powerful and majestic beauty but also reflects the refined faith and the selection of precious materials as a Buddhist offering. The resulting golden glow is soft yet profound, becoming exceptionally radiant when reflecting the interior lights of the Minor Vihara, creating a serene and sacred atmosphere for all worshippers.
