King Taksin the Great

King Taksin the Great was the sole monarch of the Thonburi Kingdom. He is celebrated for his leadership in liberating Thailand from foreign occupation following the Second Fall of Ayutthaya. He established Thonburi as the new capital and designated Wat Chaeng (now known as Wat Arun or the Temple of Dawn) as a royal temple to house the Emerald Buddha. Within the grounds of Wat Arun and the original palace, numerous shrines and historical sites stand in his honor, including his royal bed and the Minor Vihara. His significant contribution to reunifying the nation earned him the title "the Great," and he is deeply revered by the Thai people.
